Tuuri Dede

Mezzo- soprano Tuuri Dede (born 1988) is a member of the initiative for young singers Equilibrium Young Artists created by world famous contemporary music soprano Barbara Hannigan.

Dede has performed as a soloist with such orchestras as The Munich Philharmonics, The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony orchestra, Copenhagen Phiharmonics, The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, AIMA festival orchestra, Camerata Oresund, Liepaja Symphony Orhestra, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, The Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, Music and Theatre Academy Symphony Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, Deutsch- Skandinavische Jugend-Philharmonie etc. and conductors like Barbara Hannigan, Olari Elts, Risto Joost, Tõnu Kaljuste, Peter Spissky, Kaspar Mänd, Erki Pehk, Mikk Üleoja, Hirvo Surva, Martin Sildos, Orhun Orhon, Ingrid Roose, Andreas Peer Kähler, Toomas Kapten, Markus Lehtinen, Anssi Mattila, Edward Anian Cooper, Jaan Ots etc.

Dede has great affection for vocal masterpieces and has performed such pieces as Händel’s “Messiah”, “Judas Maccabeus” and “La Resurrezione”; Bach’s „Magnificat“ and Mass in B minor; Sibelius’s “Kullervo”; Mendelssohn’s “Lobgesang”; Mozart’s Requiem; Elgar’s “The Dream of Gerontius”; Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater”; Rossini’s “Petite messe solennelle”, Beethoven’s 9. Symphony; Respighi’s “Lauda per la nativitá del Signore” etc.

Dede received her masters degree from Sibelus Academy in 2016 (with Annika Ollinkari), has previously graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Teele Jõks) and studied a year at Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan (Cristina Rubin). Dede’s roles include Dorabella (W. A. Mozart “Così fan tutte”); Frida (K. Aho “Frida y Diego”); Ariel (J. Sibelius “Myrsky”); Mother, Dragonfly and Teacup (M. Ravel “L’enfant et les sortilègès”).

As for competitions, she won the III prize at Vello Jürna Competition in 2021; advanced to the semifinals of Wilhelm Stenhammar Competition in 2018; won the first prize in international competition “Havets Röst”; earned a finalist title and 3 special prizes in national Vello Jürna Competition in 2017 and won the first prize in national Mart Saar competition in 2016; in 2014 she won the fourth prize and Sibelius’s family prize at International Sibelius Singing Competition. In January 2016 Tuuri had her debut at the Berliner Philharmony.
