Triin Ruubel-Lilleberg is one of the leading violinists of her generation, in demand as a concert pianist, soloist and teacher.
Triin Ruubel has been concertmaster, chamber musician and soloist of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra since 2015. She has performed throughout Europe and America.
Triin graduated from Tallinn Music High School and from the Higher School of Music and Theatre in Rostock, Germany (Petru Munteanu class). During her studies, she participated in several competitions, winning, among others, first prize and two special prizes at the Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition.
Out of interest for contemporary music, the new music ensemble Neophon was founded in 2011 in Rostock together with friends and fellow students; this led to collaborations with contemporary composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Peter Ruzicka and Jörg Widmann. Contemporary solo works also play an important role in his repertoire.
As a soloist, Triin has appeared with orchestras in Estonia and abroad, including the ERSO, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Riga Sinfonietta, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Bolzano Haydn Orchestra, Orchestre des Jeunes d'Île-de-France, Balkan Festival Orchestra, Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, Polish Chamber Philharmonic and Philarmonie der Nationen.
Triin has appeared as a soloist with all the major Estonian conductors, including Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Olari Elts, Arvo Volmer and Kristiina Poska. Triin has been guest concertmaster of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France. In 2015 she started teaching at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Triin has also been a tutor at Järvi Academy master classes for several years and a member of the Estonian Festival Orchestra. Her masterclasses have also taken her to Germany and Portugal.
In duo with her sister Kärt Ruubel, Triin has made her debut at the Berlin Philharmonic in the series Debüt im Deutschlandfunk. Her chamber music partners have included Elisabeth Leonskaja, Vikingur Olafsson, Matt Hunt, Olli Mustonen, Wolfgang Boettcher, Florian Donderer and others. In 2020, Triinu's debut CD with the ERSO and conductor Neeme Järvi was released. The album, which received a positive international media response and was selected as one of the BBC's best albums of the year, features E. Elgar's Violin Concerto and W. T. Sinclair's Violin Concerto. Stenhammar's "Two Sentimental Romances".
