Sophia Rahman is the winner of the Royal Over-Seas League Award for Accompanist and the Liza Fuchsova Memorial Prize for chamber musician/pianist.

She made the first UK recording of Florence Price’s concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for BBC Radio 3. Her recordings include Shostakovich’ concerto Op.35 with Scottish Ensemble (Linn Records) and 30 chamber music CDs (incl. Naxos).

Sophia Rahman has performed in concerts with Steven Isserlis, Thomas Riebl, distinguished wind players such as Robert Plane, Karl Leister and Alex Klein, and also works regularly with her partner, the violinist, violist and conductor Andres Kaljust.

Rahman teaches at the Irish Chamber Orchestra String Masters in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, she has coached junior chamber musicians at the Finnish Sibelius Academy, Swedish Lilla Akademien and masterminded a course for young Estonian chamber musicians at the Arvo Pärt Centre.

She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School, the Royal Academy of Music and has a first-class honours degree in English from King’s College London.

Sophia Rahman is the Artistic Director of Whittington International Chamber Music Festival.
