Neeme Ots
NEEME OTS began his studies at the age of 6 under the guidance of his father, prof. Aavo Ots, earned a Bachelor's degree from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (prof. Pertti Kulku, Touko Lundell, Simo Rantanen, 2011) and completed his Master's degree at the same institution (prof. Simo Rantanen, 2017).
Through Erasmus exchange he furthered his studies in Madrid (2012–2013, Conservatory Superior de Música de Madrid, prof. Enrique Rioja-Liz). Ots has participated in masterclasses with distinguished trumpet pedagogues such as J. Gansch, M. André, R. Friedrich, N. Birk, M. B. Gómez-Limon, A. D. Illada, B. Nilsson, G. Cassone, J. Bolshianov, E. Chulia, A. Plog, and others.
He has been awarded the Grand Prix at the International Trumpet Days "Tallinn 2014, second place at the Julius Vaks Competition, and third place at the international Hillar Kareva Competition.
Chamber concerts have brought him together with renowned interpreters like M. Voites, M. Palm, A. Teemets, I. Zahharenkova, R. Taal, T. Tenno, A. Köster, and more. Ots has performed as a soloist with the Tallinn CO, Tallinn Music High School SO, Polish Chamber Philharmonic, and Narva City Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors such as J.-P. Saraste, K. Järvi, L. Segerstam, M. Lehtinen, C. Eschenbach, F. Luisi, G. Pehlivanian, among others.
He has served as the concertmaster of the trumpet section in several prestigious youth orchestras (World Youth Wind Orchestra, Scandinavian-German Youth Orchestra, Baltic Youth Orchestra, and the Sibelius Academy SO). With these orchestras, he has performed at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Helsinki's Finlandia Hall and Musiikkitalo, Berlin Philharmonic, and more. Ots has frequently participated in the Spanish National SO, Madrid Philharmonic SO, and European Royal Ensemble.
He has been invited as a soloist to perform at the Estonian International Trumpet Days, Võru Brass Music Days, Tallinn Chamber Music Festival, Rapla Church Music Festival, Tallinn Winter Festival, Eesti Kontsert project "Young Talents," and Tallinn Music Week. In 2015, he released his first recording, "Baroque Pictures," in collaboration with organist Tiia Tenno.
