Kaija Lukas was born in Rapla. Kaija is passionate about the beauty and healing power of classical music and has dedicated her life to making this music come alive, to inspire love and wonder in as many people as possible.
Kaija is passionate about chamber music and plays both violin and viola for various professional ensembles throughout Europe including The English Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Paris Chamber Orchestra and the Le Jeune string trio.
She has also played with the Pavao, Idomeneo and Piatti String Quartets.
Kaija recently played as a soloist with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and is also a member of various chamber ensembles including the newly formed Bridge Ensemble with whom she is excited to be exploring new music, alternative venues, and innovative programs.
Kaija began her musical education at the Rapla Music School and Tallinn Music High School. She went on to complete her Undergraduate and Masters degrees at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with additional diplomas from Temple University in Philadelphia and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Kaija has won several prizes at national and international competitions including at 'Remember Enescu' in Romania, Aram Khachaturian competition in Armenia and at the National competitions of Estonia.
Kaija is a regular member of the Jigsaw Chamber Music Series in London.
Kaija is very excited about moving back to live in Tallinn after thirteen years living in London and then Amsterdam.
